WebOS is fast and efficient, with wide-ranging support for apps and services. LG has Alexa integration built into its platform, which makes it easy to integrate the two services together.
The latest version of webOS allows for a full-screen view that’s more spaced out, with faster access to your most used apps. It also offers content recommendations based on your viewing history. LG has great voice recognition, with support for all your favorite assistants. LG’s ThinQ AI platform is built in, so you don’t need an external listening device.

The LG WebOS is compatible with most applications on the market. However, there are a few exceptions:
AirPlay 2 and Chromecast are both supported by the LG WebOS.
However, some applications do not work with AirPlay 2 or Chromecast. For example, Netflix does not work with AirPlay 2 on the LG WebOS.

Eden, the built-in WebOS app for Tizen OS offers a two-tier menu approach similar to Apple TV’s. The second layer provides easy access to individual content sources; however this feature is only available on the Galaxy S9 and Note 9 devices at the moment.
The latest version of Eden allows you to scroll down from the main screen to access more content shelves without taking up any space; however the only way to upgrade from the current Tizen is with a new device purchase that comes with the new software preinstalled.
Tizen TV includes apps like Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime. Eden TV can handle 4K and HDR video from any streaming application that supports these key image quality technologies. Tizen is on all QLED TVs and 4K Samsung TVs.
The Tizen app store has a decent selection of apps, but it is not as expansive as LG’s app stores. Most applications are updated on a regular basis; however, the App Store is lacking in fresh content compared to LG’s app stores.
Tizen has voice control through Bixby, the voice assistant. Bixby can be used to browse through apps or search for content on the TV. Additionally, Tizen OS is smart TV that can be integrated with smart home devices.
The speed of Eden on the Tizen OS is faster than the WebOS version; however, both versions provide quick access to content recommendations without delay or confusion.

The Amazon Appstore has a wide selection of apps, but it does not have as many as Google Play. In addition, Fire TV Edition devices are limited to 720p resolution and Dolby Audio 5.1 surround sound.
Fire TV Edition runs apps from Google Play and is functionally identical to other versions of the Fire TV, except that it has its own app store and support for sideloading APK files.
My Home Screen: Universal search & apps interface (Panasonic)
Panasonic’s My Home Screen is a platform that is simple and easy to use. The interface looks clean and unobtrusive, perfect for people who just want to watch TV. The platform offers universal search functionality but lacks some features like Disney Plus or augmented reality apps.

My Home Screen is responsive and free from crashes; it also has a vast amount of streaming services included in its app store. The iPlayer app supports 4K and HLG HDR which was trialled by BBC during the World Cup. However, the iPlayer app does not support NOW TV or Disney Plus, which is strange considering it is one of the largest streaming services to launch in the past year.
Vidaa U: In-house operating system of Hisense in US market
Vidaa U is an in-house operating system, meaning that it’s not exclusive to one company only. You will find apps such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Rakuten, YouTube and Disney Plus on the TV. Hisense is a Chinese company that makes televisions. Vidaa U’s goal is to bring the most advanced TV technology to the US market, and they are partnering with Vizio in order to do so.
The OS is well laid-out and easy to use. The package of YouTube videos called “Vidaa Free” distracts from the overall purpose of an Android TV operating system. However, you can uninstall this app if you don’t want it on your device. Overall, I think Vidaa U offers a great experience for users who want a stable platform with lots of features on a budget price point

SmartCast is Vizio’s smart TV platform. It’s a slow platform, but it offers the extras of Android TV. SmartCast is easier to use than most smart TVs, with an added bonus of Google Chromecast built-in.
SmartCast TV has a variety of tabs and can be customized. There are large, featured images on the front page to help you find what you’re looking for quickly. This year’s Vizio smart TVs have a lot of features that make them great – but they’re also slow and misbehave sometimes.
New Operating System for Portable and TV Computers
